(Washington, DC – November 6, 2024) The National Women’s Political Caucus (NWPC) acknowledges the results of the U.S. presidential election, in which Donald J. Trump has been declared the winner. While we respect the democratic process and the will of the American people, we also express deep concern about the potential impact of a Trump presidency on women’s rights, civil liberties, and social progress in our country.
Throughout his campaign, President-elect Trump has made statements and proposed policies that we believe threaten the progress made towards our mission. The NWPC is resolute in its commitment to stand up against any policies that undermine women’s rights or that threaten social justice and equality. In the coming months, we will work diligently with our allies, partner organizations, and legislators to hold the new administration accountable and to push back on harmful policies. We will mobilize our supporters, amplify our voices, and continue to advocate for a more inclusive and equitable America.
Today, we mourn the dream of an incredibly qualified presidential candidate who would have fought tooth and nail for our rights. In the weeks to come, the NWPC will remain steadfast in our mission to empower women at every level of the political process, to promote legislation that supports equality and justice, and to protect the gains we have achieved. Now more than ever, we are determined to support leaders who stand for a vision of our country that values human dignity, diversity, and equal rights for all.
