Joint Statement from NWPC and NWPCCA on the Los Angeles Protests

By June 10, 2025No Comments

(Washington, DC – June 10, 2025) The National Women’s Political Caucus (NWPC) and the National Women’s Political Caucus – California  (NWPCCA) stand in solidarity with the courageous community members protesting in Los Angeles this week, some of whom are members of NWPC. These demonstrations are a powerful and necessary response to the inhumane ICE raids and the growing threats to immigrant communities across our nation.

“The ICE raids we are witnessing are morally indefensible,” said NWPC President, Deidre Malone. “They are a part of a broader, deeply troubling shift toward the militarization of our communities. No one should live in fear of their government for simply seeking a better life. That is not the America our founders envisioned. We will not be silent as families and our democracy are torn apart.”

In a moment that has brought fear to so many, it is the people of Los Angeles—organizers, neighbors, young people, and elders—who are rising up to support one another and fight for justice. The unity we see across communities is a testament to the power of grassroots action.

“This is what collective resistance looks like: communities rising together to protect one another when institutions were never built to protect them,” said Angelica Ramos-Allen, President of National Women’s Political Caucus of California. “California will always be a place of resistance and resilience. Our fight is grounded in love, dignity, and an unshakeable belief in the power of people to make change.”

Together, NWPC and NWPCCA reaffirm our commitment to immigrant justice, to the dismantling of oppressive systems, and to supporting local leaders and organizers as they drive change at the local level. We urge our members and elected allies across the country to join us in speaking out and showing up.
