Statement from the National Women’s Political Caucus on Continued ICE Violence in Minneapolis

By January 26, 2026No Comments

(Washington, DC – Jan 26, 2026) The National Women’s Political Caucus is deeply alarmed by what is unfolding in Minnesota and by the escalating danger posed by ICE and the Department of Homeland Security. Federal officials continue to issue statements that contradict what communities, journalists, and video evidence show us with our own eyes.

Peaceful protest is a pillar of our democracy. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their community, regardless of immigration status. Some elected officials continue to contradict themselves, claiming to defend constitutional rights and calling themselves “pro-life” while remaining silent as people are gunned down in the streets.

We reject the normalization of state violence and selective application of the law. In 2026, we will elect women who will put a stop to this violence and stand firm against federal agencies that terrorize our communities. To do so, we must change Congress and elect women who will not stay silent while these actions are taken and sanctioned by the Trump Administration.
