(Washington, DC – February 21, 2024)
The National Women’s Political Caucus (NWPC) proudly endorses Congresswoman Barbara Lee of Oakland, CA and Congresswoman Katie Porter of Irvine, CA. for the U.S. Senate.
“The state of California has had a female in the U.S. Senate for more than 30 years and we need to continue to have female representation,” stated Deidre Malone, President of the NWPC. “Studies show that when women are empowered to lead, all of society benefits. Women in public office are more likely to advance gender equality and address women’s and family interests.”
The Senate seat was held by Sen. Dianne Feinstein. Feinstein was the state’s longest serving senator, She served from 1992 until her passing in 2023.
“Electing women isn’t just about gender parity; it’s about ensuring diverse voices are heard and perspectives are valued in shaping our future”, stated NWPCCA President, Sabrina Ashjian. “Together, Lee and Porter embody the resilience, intellect, and compassion needed in our leadership. Let us stand united in support of these trailblazing women as they embark on this journey to represent us all and continue California’s legacy of female representation in a time and place where our voices are needed in policymaking.”
Candidates endorsed by the National Women’s Political Caucus support our bottom line issues, including reproductive freedom, enshrinement of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to the U.S. Constitution, and increased access to child care and other dependent care.
